A New Year Introduction: Hi, I'm Ryan!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Here's to 2021 being better than 2020!

I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself or introduce myself for the first time, to all of my amazing readers. When is a better time than at the start of the new year?

Hello! My name is Ryan Dillon I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas and my private practice is completely online. I specialize in working with the queer community and in sex therapy.

I have a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Kentucky University. I moved to Austin, Texas in 2015 because my husband is currently working on his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin.

Working with the queer community was always my goal when I entered my Master's program. As a member of the community I wanted to give back, and I know how much good, and most importantly, specialized therapy is needed for the community.

Sex Education for the Win!

Sex Educator

I am also a sex educator. I have been teaching middle and high school age students with a non-profit called UN|HUSHED. I have been teaching since 2015. Being a sex educator has been extremely rewarding because I get to provide much-needed information that isn't found in most schools.

I pride myself on being able to teach comprehensive AND inclusive sex education!

I've published my first book with UN|HUSHED titled, "A Handbook on Sexuality Education: An Introduction to Mental Health Practitioners." The book is targeted to clinicians and provides, tips, tricks, and handouts for when sex comes up in session.

Got accepted into Northwestern University!

Marketing Coach

As a therapist in private practice, I discovered that I had a mind for business and a love for brand development and management. So much so that I started holding workshops that helped new therapists start their brands.

I loved this so much that I decided to go back to school to get a degree. My goal is to become a consultant for queer business owners who want to start, grow, and expand their businesses.

Currently, I am a student at Northwestern University getting my second Master's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications.

Feeling My Fabulous

Queer Book Nerd

I am a genderfluid book nerd who reads a lot! I always have a goal of reading at least 100 books a year.....and I always go over that.

My favorite types of books are Queer YA. I read a bit of everything but young adult is where my heart belongs.

I believe representation is extremely important for marginalized communities. Everyone deserves, and needs, to have themselves represented in the tv shows and movies they view and the books that they read. That's why I make it a point to highlight only marginalized books on my social media and website.

Celebrating a Biden/Harris Victory!

I've been married to my husband. Daniel, for 13 years this March. We got married in 2008, then legally married in Washington DC in 2014 which wasn't recognized in our home state of Kentucky until June 26th, 2015 with the supreme court ruling making marriage equality legal through the US.

Daniel and I met on MySpace, yes that's what I said. To those too young to know what MySpace is, think of an old school Facebook that no longer exists.

Fur Baby

My husband and I got our dog, Egan, when we first got together in 2008. Egan is a chihuahua and min pin mix. He will be 12 years old this February and is a cuddle bug.

Egan was diagnosed with diabetes in 2018 and as a result of the insulin is now blind. In his old age, he has taken to the blindness well since he has always preferred being held and carried around.

My First Time EVER Growing A Beard!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I hope you enjoyed the read and that you enjoy the time on my website.
